What counts as a dental emergency
Severe or throbbing toothache, swelling of the face or gums, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost crown or filling, bleeding that won't stop, or trauma to the mouth. When in doubt, call. We'd rather see you than have you wait.
What to do right now
Knocked-out tooth: hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse gently, and place it back in the socket or in milk, then call immediately. Broken tooth: rinse, save any pieces, apply a cold compress. Toothache: rinse with warm salt water, floss gently to remove anything trapped, take over-the-counter pain relief as directed, and call us.
